Monday, May 22nd, 2034: The baseball must have looked as big as a balloon to Héctor Barrón of San Diego last week. The second baseman had quite a 5-game stretch and today he was named the National League Player of the Week.
Barrón delivered 11 hits in 20 at-bats to hit .550 with 4 home runs and 11 RBIs.
In 43 games Barrón is hitting .307 this season with 51 hits, 11 home runs, 32 RBIs, 19 walks, .381 OBP and has scored 19 runs. |

Monday, May 22nd, 2034: At the age of 32, Matthew Mendes might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Baltimore designated hitter put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .600 batting average. For his efforts Mendes collected the American League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 15 hits in 25 at-bats, no home runs and 5 RBIs last week in 6 games.
For the year Mendes is batting .367 with 65 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 35 times and driven in 34. |
