| Breaking News |  | Thursday, June 28th, 2029: Mendez Homers 3 Times Against Las Vegas
Pedro Mendez, right fielder for the Indianapolis Indians, had a whale of a game, rocketing three balls out of Ballpark of Plano against the Las Vegas 51s today in their 7-6 victory.
After the game he said, "I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them. The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves... all three were mistakes."
For the game Mendez was 3-5 with 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
Mendez added, "There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives. Today I found the home run stroke."
P. Mendez flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off R. Erazo in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off R. Erazo in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off L. Garcia in the 9th.
Mendez is batting .282 with 30 home runs and 78 RBIs this season.

 | Saturday, June 23rd, 2029: Hysell Spins Shutout Against Las Vegas
Raymon Hysell was downright nasty in pitching a 15-0 shutout against Las Vegas. His splitter was diving, his slider was breaking and the 51s were swinging and looking bad. In the solid 3-hit shutout the Redbirds hurler chalked up 8 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.
"As the game went on, he got stronger," his manager said. "I thought he really turned it up a notch in the eighth and ninth and probably threw his best breaking balls in those two innings. They put a lot of balls in play early in the count because he was throwing strikes."
This year Hysell has compiled a 9-4 record with a 2.59 ERA.

 | Monday, May 14th, 2029: Las Vegas's Unknown to Miss Season
Joe Unknown has to call it a season. The Las Vegas 51s starting pitcher sustained a season-ending injury against the Memphis Redbirds and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Unknown was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as back spasms and stated that he would not be able to play for 11 months.
