22-year-old Tony McDonald made a few Bowie headlines during this past week as the rookie left fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and American League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort.
He cracked 12 hits in 25 at-bats to put up a .480 average. McDonald collected 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and scored 5 runs.
On the season, McDonald is batting .292 with 13 home runs and 66 RBIs. He has played in 92 games.

| Friday, July 6th, 2029: Zhou Belts 5 Hits
5 hits in 7 at-bats. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today Hsui-chuan Zhou of the Bowie Baysox had a sensational 5-7 game against Erie at Bowie Ballpark. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 8-6 shellacking of the Seawolves.
In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off... Right, skipper?"
H. Zhou singled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, doubled in the 12th and hit a two-run home run off J. Carlton in the 14th.
Presently Zhou is batting .286 with 3 home runs and 18 RBIs. He has played in 33 games and scored 14 times.

A pitcher's main job is to keep the opposition off the scoreboard and Midland pitcher John Clark did just that today in a 4-0 victory over the Bowie Baysox at Ballpark of Stockton. He gave up no runs in his start, permitted 2 hits and had 5 strikeouts.
