| Breaking News | | Tuesday, June 26th, 2029: Javier Rodríguez Hurt, Will Miss Rest of Year The season is apparently over for Javier Rodríguez. The Connecticut Defenders medical staff informed the club that the center fielder will be out at least 7 months with a ruptured bicep tendon. Rodríguez was hurt in the game against Huntsville while throwing the ball. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
Presently Rodríguez is batting .219 with 62 hits and 8 home runs. He has knocked in 36 runs and scored 40 times. | | Monday, June 4th, 2029: Moore Guns Downs 17 Defenders The Frisco RoughRiders were victorious over the Connecticut Defenders today 4-1 at Sky Hawks Ballpark after getting an outstanding performance from starting pitcher Sam Moore. The 19-year-old Moore brought his top game to the mound, striking out 17 batters while allowing no hits and 4 walks.
"He made a lot of good pitches out there," the Connecticut manager said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters by swinging at everything, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes."
| | Sunday, May 27th, 2029: Season Over for Chapman in Connecticut The doctors have spoken and Ron Chapman of the Connecticut Defenders didn't like what he heard. The 21-year-old second baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Chapman sustained his season-ending injury during the Corpus Christi Hooks game yesterday at Hawkinsville Grounds. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while colliding with a player at a base. Today the Connecticut medical staff reported Chapman had a torn ankle ligaments and would be absent from the lineup for at least 12-13 months.
This year Chapman has socked 28 hits in 144 at-bats for a .194 average with 3 home runs. He is getting on base at a .273 pace and his totals also include 15 RBIs and 17 runs scored. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 34-69, .330 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 23.0 GB | | Record at home | 18-34, .346 PCT | | Record on the road | 16-35, .314 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-6, .250 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 4-13, .235 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 12-29, .293 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 22-40, .355 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 8-20, .286 PCT | | Record in May | 14-15, .483 PCT | | Record in June | 5-20, .200 PCT | | Record in July | 7-14, .333 PCT |
