Charlie Gowing of the Ft. Myers Miracle spun his magic on the High Desert Mavericks today. He blanked them 4-0 on 5 hits, registering 5 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Gowing said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, the Ft. Myers skipper said, "We got solid pitching, good defense and we took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations. This was just a solid performance by everyone."
In 2029 Gowing has posted a record of 1 win and no losses with a 0.59 ERA. He has appeared in 8 games and struck out 7 in 15.1 innings.

 | Sunday, May 27th, 2029: IronBirds Chill Murphy's Hot Streak
It was the best of both worlds for the Aberdeen IronBirds today at Sapphires Ballpark as they defeated the High Desert Mavericks 3-1 and also ended Doug Murphy's 22-game hitting streak. The 20-year-old High Desert center fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Doug, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious IronBirds skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Murphy frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
To date this season Murphy is hitting .292 with 3 home runs.

| Thursday, May 24th, 2029: Murphy Has 20-Game Hitting Streak
"Yeah, I kept my string going, but it would have been better to come away with a win," said Doug Murphy after the High Desert Mavericks fell 7-3 to Dunedin in Sapphires Ballpark today.
The 20-year-old center fielder upped his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
D. Murphy grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and flied out in the 7th.
Murphy is batting .295 this year with 3 home runs, 30 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 56 hits in 190 at-bats.
