| Breaking News | | Sunday, July 2nd, 2028: St. Louis Shuts Out Houston Paul Johnson of the St. Louis Cardinals spun his magic on the Houston Astros today. He blanked them 10-0 on 2 hits, registering 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Johnson said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, the St. Louis skipper said, "We got solid pitching, good defense and we took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations. This was just a solid performance by everyone."
This year Johnson has a 7-6 mark in 15 starts with a 3.35 ERA. He has given up 85 hits in 107.1 innings, struck out 75 and issued 41 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .215 batting average against him. | | Saturday, July 1st, 2028: Rookie Rapper Reaps NL Honors A rookie, Armando Patino is turning heads around the National League, especially since he just netted June's Rookie of the Month trophy.
The Houston catcher batted .325 last month and collected 26 hits, 7 home runs, 18 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
This could be the first of many such awards if he continues this torrid hitting, but he's definitely put himself in a good position to claim the Rookie of the Year later this year.
This year Patino has hit at a .333 pace and produced 24 RBIs, 9 home runs and scored 20 runs. | | Tuesday, June 20th, 2028: Reliever Amaury Delapaz Hurt It took the Houston team doctor a while to realize it, but reliever Amaury Delapaz won't simply play through a herniated disc after he got hurt throwing a pitch in today's Reds-Astros game. At first, it looked like Delapaz might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 8-9 weeks. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Delapaz as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back soon.
In 2028, Delapaz has made 33 relief appearances, recorded 1 save and compiled a 1-2 won-lost mark and a 1.32 ERA. In pitching 34 innings, he has totaled 26 strikeouts and 5 walks. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 44-40, .524 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 7.0 GB | | Record at home | 20-19, .513 PCT | | Record on the road | 24-21, .533 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 4-4, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 11-14, .440 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 7-9, .438 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 37-31, .544 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 19-7, .731 PCT | | Record in May | 15-13, .536 PCT | | Record in June | 10-18, .357 PCT | | Record in July | 0-2, .000 PCT |
