Sunday, July 2nd, 2028: St. Louis Shuts Out Houston
Paul Johnson of the St. Louis Cardinals spun his magic on the Houston Astros today. He blanked them 10-0 on 2 hits, registering 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.

"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Johnson said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."

Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, the St. Louis skipper said, "We got solid pitching, good defense and we took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations. This was just a solid performance by everyone."

This year Johnson has a 7-6 mark in 15 starts with a 3.35 ERA. He has given up 85 hits in 107.1 innings, struck out 75 and issued 41 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .215 batting average against him.
Saturday, July 1st, 2028: June's NL Top Pitcher is Cardinals Martin
Gabe Martin's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-0 in June, the St. Louis hurler has been named National League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 36 in 45 innings, logged an ERA of 2.20 and allowed opponents to hit .232 against him.

Monday, June 12th, 2028: Injury Forces John Beery Out
"It was kinda freaky. Hopefully, I'll be back in the lineup soon," said a dejected John Beery after injuring himself in a game against Los Angeles. The St. Louis manager told SION reporters, "He will miss up to 3 weeks with a strained back muscle." The Cardinals will have to decide over the next day or two whether the first baseman will go on the disabled list.

So far this season Beery is batting .291 with 14 home runs.
