 | Friday, May 26th, 2028: Major Injury Forces Gaymon Out of Baseball
The Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse was subdued last night after Jerry Gaymon was seriously injured during the game. Gaymon was taken to a local hospital for examination. This morning, doctors confirmed the preliminary diagnosis of a fractured elbow. They said Gaymon will undergo surgery in the near future. This type of injury, they said, will require extensive rehabilitation. For all intents and purposes, his career in baseball is over.
It remains to be seen how Gaymon's loss will affect the rest of the team. The Dodgers owner, when reached for comment, said he planned to visit Gaymon later today. "It is a sad day for us," he said, "We have lost a class individual. I hope that we can keep him in our organization as a coach or manager as soon as he recovers. Jerry still has a lot to contribute to our baseball team."
This year Gaymon has a 4-4 record with a 2.67 ERA.

"I'm frustrated right now," said Los Angeles center fielder Edgar Pivonka. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Dodgers, that's where he will be spending the next 2 weeks. Pivonka suffered a pinched nerve in today's game against Boston while making a defensive play. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
Pivonka is presently hitting at a .311 pace with 10 home runs, 26 RBIs and has scored 26 times.
