Jimmy Murtagh and the San Diego Padres got a bad break in today's game against the Pirates as the team confirmed he will miss 2 weeks with a bruised wrist. The Padres left fielder suffered the injury running the bases. The team doctor is confident he'll make a full recovery.
This year Murtagh is batting .187 with 14 hits and no home runs. He has scored 7 times and has batted in 5 runs. |

Angel Olivares, the talented San Diego star, suffered a strained achilles tendon yesterday in the game with the Reds, which could keep him out of today's lineup. "I'm a bit banged up," said the 26-year-old third baseman, "but we won't know until game time if I can play or not." Olivares got hurt while running the bases. The team doctor said he could be out up to one week.
Thus far this season Olivares is hitting .261 with 5 home runs, 28 RBIs and 52 runs scored. He has 78 hits in 299 at-bats and has played in 79 games. |

His teammates, fans, peers and even the SION sportswriters all agreed that Alin Acuņa was worthy of the National League Player of the Week Award.
