Patrick Miner earned the American League Rookie of the Month honors for his magnificent stretch of play in June.
The 22-year-old Toronto right fielder batted .283, smacked 3 home runs and drove in 8 runs. He also tagged 30 hits, scored 13 runs and picked up 8 walks on his way to a .336 on-base percentage.
Miner is batting .313 this season in 53 games with 6 home runs, 24 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 65 hits in 208 at-bats. |
 | Friday, June 30th, 2028: Toronto Right Fielder Out
It took the Toronto team doctor a while to realize it, but right fielder Marshall Wireman won't simply play through a inguinal hernia after he got hurt running the bases in today's Mariners-Blue Jays game. At first, it looked like Wireman might be back as early as tomorrow, but now the prognosis isn't quite so good; he's expected to miss at least 8 weeks. A spokesman for the club described the loss of Wireman as a blow, but was confident that he'd be back soon.
For the season, Wireman is hitting at a .284 clip with 13 home runs, 49 RBIs and has scored 49 runs. He has 82 hits, 53 walks and a .399 on-base percentage. |
