It seemed that Cleveland second baseman Mervin Marchant could do no wrong as the Indians kayoed the Royals 8-5 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Kansas City pitchers couldn't get him out as Marchant seemed to know which pitches they were throwing.
"I think the Indians were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Kansas City fan.
"I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," exclaimed the jubilant Marchant in the postgame press interview.
M. Marchant singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and hit a three-run home run off L. Moreno in the 10th.
This year Marchant is batting .238 with 4 home runs and 20 RBIs.
