Kosami Oda demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the Central League Player of the Week Award.
The Hanshin first baseman wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .474 average (9-19) with 1 home run and 2 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor.
Thus far this year Oda has hit .308 with 19 home runs and 70 RBIs.

The Hanshin Tigers have finalized a deal with All Star-caliber catcher Tomás Álvarez that will extend his stay in Hanshin at least 2 years and will pay out $2,311,600.
So far this year Álvarez is batting .317 with 12 home runs, 53 RBIs and 50 runs scored.

 | Tuesday, September 18th, 2029: Injury Takes Toll, Yamada Out
Hanshin fans will be disappointed to learn that Misao Yamada developed a tender shoulder while throwing a pitch in today's game. After the doctor informed the Hanshin Tigers manager that Yamada was expected to miss 1-2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the starting pitcher could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
In 32 starts this season Yamada has registered a 15-8 record and a 3.32 ERA.
