| Breaking News | | Thursday, July 5th, 2029: Cervantes Gets Shutout Before the game Santiago Cervantes liked his chances and his instincts proved to be right. In a superb outing the Clippers pitcher whitewashed the Round Rock Express 7-0.
Cervantes said in the clubhouse afterward, "I just had a feeling it was going to be my day. My control was awesome. I could throw my curveball even when I was behind in the count."
The Columbus starter held Round Rock scoreless, giving up 3 hits while registering 6 strikeouts and issuing 3 walks.
"We didn't have very many good at-bats," the Express manager said in his postgame interview.
"When that happens, you usually lose."
To date he has nailed down 0 saves for his club. In no relief appearances, Cervantes has 53 strikeouts in 63.2 innings with a 2.26 ERA and a 6-2 mark. | | Tuesday, June 26th, 2029: Frazier Sizzles -- Smokes Express for 5 Hits It was a hits blitz for John Frazier at Ballpark of Plano. The Indianapolis Indians first baseman tore into Round Rock for 5 hits in 6 at-bats to pace the Indians to a 23-10 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Express bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Frazier, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
J. Frazier hit an RBI single in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off V. Purington in the 6th, walked in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 8th.
Frazier on the season is hitting .316 with 9 home runs. His stats include 35 RBIs and 32 runs scored. | | Saturday, May 26th, 2029: Silva Hitless, Stopped by RedHawks The Round Rock Express won the game 4-3 over the Oklahoma RedHawks. At the same time the RedHawks mound corps did what no other team could do. They stopped the 24-game hitting streak of Express right fielder Roberto Silva. But that was still not enough to win the game.
"Our pitchers may have focused a bit too much on stopping Silva," the Oklahoma manager commented afterward. "He had a nice hitting streak going, but the Express have other hitters and they did their job today."
For the season, Silva is hitting at a .400 clip with 4 home runs, 18 RBIs and has scored 18 runs. He has 38 hits, 14 walks and a .477 on-base percentage. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | P Albert Rojas | hyperextended elbow | 4 days | Not on DL | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 39-51, .433 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 18.0 GB | | Record at home | 22-24, .478 PCT | | Record on the road | 17-27, .386 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-4, .636 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 10-9, .526 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 29-42, .408 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 2-8, .200 PCT | | Record in April | 8-20, .286 PCT | | Record in May | 15-14, .517 PCT | | Record in June | 14-12, .538 PCT | | Record in July | 2-5, .286 PCT |
