| Breaking News | | Sunday, July 1st, 2029: Birkland Hurls Shutout Portland rode the magical arm of Russ Birkland in a 4-0 shutout win over Memphis. He shackled them on 4 hits and fanned 4. Almost to a man, the Memphis Redbirds said he had them guessing wrong all game long.
In 9 starts this year Birkland has recorded a 3-4 record and a 2.34 ERA. | | Sunday, July 1st, 2029: Portland Starter Named NL's #1 Pitcher As Dennis Nuñez hoisted up the National League Pitcher of the Month trophy for June, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Portland once his contract is up at the end of the season.
Nuñez put pressure on the Beavers to keep him around by posting a 6-0 record and an ERA of 1.78 over 50.2 innings last month. He also rolled up 46 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Portland and to every other team in the league.
In 7 starts this season Nuñez has rung up a 6-0 record and a 1.78 ERA. | | Wednesday, May 16th, 2029: Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl When fights happen, suspensions are not far behind. That axiom was held to be true today when Oklahoma's Mike Hubbard and Portland's Roberto Pujols were given a temporary vacation from the game, courtesy of the league commissioner's office.
They both were suspended for 5 games for their actions in a recent ruckus between the two teams. Both benches cleared when Hubbard charged Pujols.
Both players have accepted their fate and will begin serving their suspensions immediately. Neither would talk to reporters about the confrontation.
Hubbard is presently batting .341 with 2 home runs, 29 runs scored and 22 RBIs. His OBP is .407.
Pujols has made 10 starts this season, posting 5 wins and 4 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .268 against him and he has 51 strikeouts in 65.1 innings with a 4.13 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 45-45, .500 PCT | | Position in Division | 4th, 17.0 GB | | Record at home | 21-20, .512 PCT | | Record on the road | 24-25, .490 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 5-4, .556 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 15-12, .556 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 15-12, .556 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 30-33, .476 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 8-2, .800 PCT | | Record in April | 18-10, .643 PCT | | Record in May | 10-19, .345 PCT | | Record in June | 12-14, .462 PCT | | Record in July | 5-2, .714 PCT |
